How does it work?

Family Scholar House’s program includes a pre-residential, residential, and post-residential service platform. The pre-residential program ensures families are ready for the housing and the educational commitment to a post-secondary program. During the program, residents are supported with comprehensive wrap-around services to achieve their goals in education and careers and also support for their family’s health and wellbeing. Children learn with their parents through programs such as Toddler Book Club, Mommy & Me Cooking classes and parent-child yoga. With academic and career coaches as well as family advocates, student parents find that any barriers that arise are addressed. On average, two-thirds of Family Scholar House participants choose healthcare professions, a high-demand industry that provides higher income opportunities.

After the Parent Scholar(s) completes their education and enters a career, the family transitions from the housing and remains supported by the services of the program to ensure their self-sufficiency continues. Families take pride in graduating from the program and moving into the community, thus paving the way for another family to achieve their educational goals.
